Artificial intelligence in e-learning: The role of Melissa as a digital avatar

When we started developing our e-learning modules, we threw ourselves into the studio with Melissa to record the presentations. But to our surprise, we were inundated with questions that had nothing to do with our modules. The most pressing question we got time and time again was where Melissa got her hair cut. And while we understand that her haircut is undoubtedly awesome, we never expected it to be such a hot topic.

"Are you real?!?!" - The astonishing question that made us doubt

But there was another question on the mind. A question that made us wonder if we were in a sci-fi movie. "Are you real?!?!" was the most frequently asked question we were told. We understand, it may seem like we created a hologram with Melissa. And that's completely true, although Melissa is definitely a real person. However, what you see when you follow our e-learning modules is a digital version of her. And that has its advantages.

When we started four years ago, we had to be able to create e-learning modules in multiple languages. How do you do that so that the modules look the same and that users can still follow the e-learning in their own language? We went into the studio with Melissa to shoot lots of video footage of her and create a digital avatar of Melissa.

This digital avatar from Melissa allows us to create new e-learning modules in no time. We can use it for different languages and even if we want to implement an update quickly, it's a piece of cake. But it's not just because of the practical benefits that we've given Melissa a digital look. It also ensures that our modules look visually appealing and that the message is conveyed in a clear and crisp manner.

And while we have been implementing artificial intelligence (a.i.) in our training for 4 years now, it seems that the rest of the world is starting to wake up too. AI is everywhere and we are proud that we have been using it for so long to make our modules even better and more efficient.
