Content is king. The platform is simply the medium; the content itself creates value. Within 2LRN4, multiple content types are supported, including custom content from your own organisation.
Categories
Courses are grouped into categories. Each theme has its own category with underlying courses, such as Privacy or Security. Each category can be described per language to give users a clear understanding of what they will learn.
Each category includes an image for recognition and optionally a trailer video to spark interest. Categories themselves cannot be enabled or disabled; visibility depends on the availability of courses and activities.
If you want to exclude departments, simply assign only the departments that should have access to the category.
Courses
A course is designed to provide knowledge on a specific topic. Within a course, you manage the activities a user can complete.
Similar to categories, courses support multilingual descriptions and images. In addition, you can define availability periods and set warning notifications when a course is about to expire.
Levels
Courses can be assigned a level (level 1, 2, or 3). You can require users to complete all lower-level courses before progressing to the next level.
Notifications
The platform supports two types of notifications: in-platform notifications visible in the user profile and email notifications. These can be used independently or combined.
Enrollment
Users can be enrolled in courses in two ways: self enrollment and automatic enrollment. In professional environments, automatic enrollment is typically used.
Enroll groups
When users are organised into departments (recommended), you can assign departments to a course. Existing and future users will then be enrolled automatically. This is configured in Edit course by enabling automatic enrollment.
An optional enrollment period can be set, defining how long new users have access after activation.
Enroll users
Individual users can also be enrolled manually. Custom start and end dates can be configured per user.
Activities
Each course can contain several activity types:
- SCORM – e-learning modules and videos
- Quiz – tests and surveys (English is the default language)
- Webinar – live or recorded sessions
- PDF – documents that must be read
- Blog – news articles
- Video – YouTube, Vimeo, or live video
- SharePoint / Drive – documents via Microsoft or Google
Intelligence (triggers)
Activities can be triggered in two ways: after completing another activity or on a specific activation date.
Ordering activities
Using the Order setting, you can control the sequence of activities. Assign 1 to the first activity, 2 to the next, and so on.
Media repository
To optimise storage, a central media repository is available at root level. From the customer environment, this repository can be used, while each customer also retains their own storage space for custom media.
